Please Check Our FAQ List

Before contacting our customer service, please take a moment to check our FAQ list to ensure your question is not answered already. Otherwise please feel free to drop us a line in the contact form below.

  • It’s quite simple. You enrol in the scheme by clicking here. We invoice you for the number of boxes you require (boxes are charged at £25 + VAT, per box, £12.50 of which is a refundable deposit), and when the invoice is settled we send you a welcome pack and a collection box for your shop floor.

When your collection boxes are full you simply decant old spectacles into a suitable package for posting and send them to us so that we can turn them into something shiny and new things.

You will only ever need to order a new box if your old one needs replacing. The boxes are triple walled heavy duty cardboard, so we think it should last you quite a while,

Alongside this we publish your participation in the scheme, we add your store to our spectacle recycling store locator map page, we record your weights, and for every 100kg of spectacles waste we process we will plant one tree on your behalf.

We will publish quarterly progress reports on our website, which will include your total weights diverted from landfill and trees planted on your behalf.

Also, only opticians enrolled in the scheme will have access to purchase the optical store fixtures, fittings and furniture made 100% from recycled spectacle waste which we will be launching later this year.

  • You can find your closest participating spectacle recycling store by visiting our locator map here, and either allowing your browser settings to access your location, or by entering your town or postcode and setting the distance you are willing to travel.

You will then see a list of participating stores near you. You can click on any store in the list to display more information including address, phone numbers and links to the stores website.

  • Of course you can.

Whether you are an individual or a dispensing optician, or a chain of optical stores.

You do not need to have enrolled in the scheme, nor have purchased a box.

Anyone is welcome to send in spectacle waste to Recycline free of charge.

In fact we do not charge for our recycling and processing services at all.

The costs of signing up to our scheme are the administrative costs of rolling out and publicising a national scheme of this kind.

    So the answer is, yes.

Please contact us below for our address and information on what we do not accept.

  • No, you do not have to remove lenses before sending to us.

At the start of our processing line all spectacles are put through a machine that breaks the lenses and removes them from rest of the frames material.

We actually like the lens materials, as we can produce from them very attractive sheets that we will use in our own manufacturing to produce parts of some of the items which will be made from spectacles material.

  • Yes we do.

You can send us, demo or dummy lenses as well as prescriptive lenses. They could be any colour, or of any material.

So you can absolutely send us any glasses, sunglasses or goggles lenses you wish.

We actually like the lens materials, as we can produce from them very attractive sheets that we will use in our own manufacturing to produce parts of some of the items which will be made from recycled spectacles material.

  • Yes, indeed you can. Spectacles, sunglasses, safety goggles, cases, lenses, demo lenses…but please be sure to read the full FAQ list to see what you should not send to us.

  • If you are a member of the public looking to recycle your old spectacles first check our Recycling Locations page here, to find out if there is a participating optical store near you, if there are none, you can if you wish send them directly to us.

Please take care when packaging as some spectacle waste can have sharp or pointed corners, and ensure that the spectacles are securely packaged so as not to cause injury to yourself or anyone else.

Once you have packaged your old spectacles you can send them to us at our new facility in Essex at the following address:

    43 Purdeys Way

    Purdeys Way Industrial Estate

    Essex

    SS4 1ND

You could always contact your local optical store as well and ask if they are intending to enrol in the scheme, as long term this would be the best solution for you and the local community and the environment

If you are an optician, or optical store subscribed to the National Spectacle Recycling Scheme then please follow the instructions on the Sending To Us page of our website.

  • The cost of postage of the waste spectacles to our facility in Essex is currently payable by the participating optical store.

We are in talks with two national delivery companies, and we do hope to roll out either a free service with one of these prospective partners, or possibly a flat rate fee for a postage service to us.

At that point we would embedded a button into our website wherein you book a collection. But right now that is still in discussion.

As of now, we suggest you find the size/weight combination that works best and most cost effectively with your preferred postal service provider, and that you empty your collection box at intervals that fit best with that service.

When we have an update on this we will publish this on the website, and current subscribers will be notified immediately via email.

  • Unfortunately, the short answer is no.

Due to health and safety policy and for insurance purposes we cannot receive visitors to our facility, except by appointment only, as visitors must be signed in, instructed on health and safety, and given suitable PPE.

We have a no unauthorised access policy and as a small company without reception staff we cannot operate with an open door.

Operational noise from our machinery makes it unlikely that anyone would hear callers once the system is in action, and even if heard the door cannot be answered as we cannot leave our machinery unattended during processing.
